Volunteering at VI

Vajrayana Institute relies on the ongoing support of volunteers for the centre to flourish.

Volunteers take on many responsibilities at the centre, including working in the office, book shop and library, as well as assisting with the newsletter and facilitating at teachings, big events and conferences. Volunteers also contribute by cleaning and tidying the Gompa, helping with gardening, cleaning and cooking meals for the resident Sangha.

General

We are always looking for people who can help with general office assistance, dharma burning, mantra rolling, cleaning and gardening. VI Library

Currently we are cataloging and entering library books in the database. We also need help for the general maintenance of the library. Please contact Amanda Sumner-Potts at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you are interested.

 

Course facilitators

We need course facilitators for our regular teaching programme, such as Discovering Buddhism on Monday evening, and for our weekend classes/workshops/retreats. Facilitators need to be able to arrive about half an hour before and stay back to tidy up after the course/event.

In general, the jobs we needed help with at these events are as follows:

Public Talks & Saturday Afternoon talks

  • Set up of Gompa
  • Reception: bookshop sales
  • Meet & Greet
  • Sound & recording
  • Tidying up when the day is finished

Weekend workshops & Retreat Days (For two facilitators)

  • Setting up the Gompa (chairs, cushions etc)
  • Registration & bookshop sales
  • Meet & Greet
  • Preparing and serving morning & afternoon teas
  • Lunch for the teacher
  • Sound & recording
  • Tidying up when the day is finished
